Speaker Biography
Dr. Kevin Ng
BSc BVMS MANZCVS DAVDC DEVDC
Australian Registered Veterinary Specialist in Dentistry
AVDC® Board Certified Veterinary Dentist™
EVBS® European Veterinary Specialist in Dentistry

Kevin was born in Singapore, completing primary school there before his family moved to Perth, Western Australia, one of the most isolated capital cities in the world. After graduating from Murdoch University, Western Australia with his veterinary degree, he spent 8 years in small animal general practice, becoming interested in dentistry because he wasn’t very good at it.
This feeling of inadequacy that could not be ignored, and Kevin aggressively pursued continuing education, culminating in him fulfilling the requirements for Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2012. Amazingly, this somehow did not put him off dentistry forever, and he made it his goal to qualify as a specialist veterinary dentist.
It took him 3 years, but Kevin finally managed to find a residency training program that would take a crazy Australian, and he moved to Ithaca, New York, to undertake the Dentistry & Oral Surgery residency at Cornell University between 2016 and 2019. This was followed by 4 days of rigorous specialist examinations that were only tolerable because they were held in Las Vegas, allowing him to drown his sorrows afterwards.
Kevin completed all requirements for qualification as a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College in 2019 (including passing said examinations) and was somehow awarded the Robert Wiggs Outstanding Candidate Award. He has also been a Diplomate of the European Veterinary Dental College soon since 2020.
After returning to Perth in the nick of time (COVID) in late 2019, Kevin joined Animalius in Bayswater to lead the Dentistry & Oral Surgery Service, and they haven’t been able to get rid of him since.
Kevin is particularly passionate about maxillofacial surgery and oral pathology and has published multiple papers in these areas, including a landmark paper on Carnassial Tooth Malformation in Frontiers in 2019. He is currently working on publishing a new surgical technique for repair of bilateral clefts of the primary palate in dogs.
Outside of work, he particularly enjoys cooking, although because he has lived in multiple countries, it tends to be an interesting mash-up of Singaporean, Australian and American Cuisines.
