Using blunt or poor quality TPLO saws can cause problems in more ways than one. Not only is it frustrating for the surgeon, but large amounts of heat and smoke produced by using blunt blades can lead to significant thermal necrosis of the bone, and may even increase the risk of postoperative infection. We can’t guarantee that our blades will stay sharp forever, but we can guarantee that they are made from the highest quality materials and designed to make your TPLO feel like you’re cutting through butter. As a general rule, we recommend using TPLO blades approximately 50 times before discarding them. Our standard VOI TPLO blades are made from stainless steel and are excellent value for money. For a more durable blade, we also offer the VOI DLC-Coated (diamond-like carbon) TPLO blades, coated with Medthin, which is one of the most tested and widely used DLC coating in the medical field. This coating results in low friction, high hardness and high corrosion resistance.
